Hey all,
We just published "News on Wikipedia: Stock markets plunge, train attack thwarted, and more" to the Wikimedia blog. URL:
http://blog.wikimedia.org/2015/08/25/stocks-plunge-train-attack/
We plan to send out five pieces of social for this story, spread through the rest of the week to keep things timely.
Please do comment for tone.
*Twitter:*
• An airshow jet crashed into cars on a busy road last week. #NewsOnWikipedia • The ancient Temple of Baalshamin in Syria has been destroyed by ISIL. #NewsOnWikipedia • This week wasn't great for stockbrokers. #NewsOnWikipedia • A wildfire raging in Washington just became the state's largest ever. #NewsOnWikipedia • Train passengers fought off a gunman in France last week. #NewsOnWikipedia
*Facebook/G+:*
• At least eleven drivers were killed on Saturday as a jet plane crashed into a busy English road. #NewsOnWikipedia • The Temple of Baalshamin had stood for thousands of years. This week, it was announced ISIL had destroyed it. #NewsOnWikipedia • This wasn't a good week to be a stockbroker... #NewsOnWikipedia • A wildfire in Washington state has now burnt through over 400 square miles of land. #NewsOnWikipedia • Seven train passengers were awarded France's highest honor for their role in subduing a gunman. #NewsOnWikipedia
best, Joe
These LGTM Joe thank you.
Minor suggestions:
- ISIL destroys ancient temple of Baalshamin at Palmyra. #NewsOnWikipedia
Not a good week for stockbrokers is a bit of an understatement. I'm sure they're not sleeping for a while.
- Stockbrokers scramble following Chinese market crash. #NewsOnWikipedia - Stocks seesaw following Chinese market crash. #NewsOnWikipedia - Stock Market Correction? Could be. #NewsOnWikipedia - You must be this tall to ride: Stocks offer investors wild ride this week. #NewsOnWikipedia <-- that one fun.
- Last week, train passengers thwart terrorist attack in France. #NewsOnWikipedia
Is it "into a busy English road"? Isn't it "onto"?
But everything thing looks LGTM.

Really like Michael's last proposed tweet. All of your proposed posts, Joe, look good to me. Andy's comment about is accurate, but changing that post to "people in cars" sounds strange. Perhaps "An antique fighter jet crashed into a busy English road last week, killing eleven."

+1 to that - it's the term commonly used among aircraft enthusiasts, but is meaningful to lay people.
Round 1 is the airshow crash.

Thanks Joe! God knows I've had to delete/retweet enough times on my personal twitter... (And err maybe a couple times on WP/WM ones). I think it's "usually" fine if caught relatively quickly (with relative being pretty broad).
On a side note I get far too much enjoyment reading the times on the quoted emails (like below) given the time zone bouncing between east coast, west coast and Scotland :). It's the simple things...
