Hey guys,
Here’s another suggestion for social media: yesterday’s great presentation on Readership.
The proposed copy below is inspired by my own posts. Tweak ’n tweet as you see fit. :)
In the future, I think thematic team presentations like these could be easily repurposed into blog posts too.
Cheers,
Fabrice

I would suggest to instead retweet (from @wikimedia)
https://twitter.com/WikiResearch/status/540977103378726913 or https://twitter.com/WikiResearch/status/541340835577487360 , which have the advantage of including a slide directly. (Disclaimer: as co-owner of that account I have some self-interest ;) but it was Dario who posted these.)

I'm a bit on the fence about that one - we have so far refrained from posting the monthly metrics meeting video link on FB, because it's a much more general audience than @wikimedia on Twitter (where we post it every month). While the metrics meeting is deliberately public for transparency and participation, it's still aimed at an internal (movement) audience, not so much at the general public, for which much of the presentation might be too much inside baseball.
Other thoughts? In any case, the video is now on Commons too: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:WMF_Monthly_Metrics_Meeting_December...

Glad you like the idea.
I expect it would take about half-a-day to a day to write and publish such posts.
Ultimately, this would depend on whether or not we have the editorial resources to do this.
Maybe this could be done as a collaboration between a WMF staffer and a community volunteer or intern.
Cheers,
Fabrice

Yeah, good point. I was going to bring up these posts myself.
Also note that Phoebe wrote this interesting post on these results over the weekend, which might be worth retweeting, as I did:

You make a good point that the full video is a bit overwhelming for your typical FB user. So maybe it could be left out from this proposed post, and simply link to the meetings agenda page, where it is accessible.
In the future, it might be possible to excerpt a noteworthy part of the full video, like Maryana’s demo of mobile readership ideas, which could be done in a 2-3 mins video and be more appropriate for FB or Twitter stand-alone posts.
But I think ultimately the best solution would be a blog post summarizing key points of the metrics meeting, with a few photos and slides, and an occasional short video.

I love hearing so many new suggestions.
I'll admit that I'm not entirely sure I followed the expectations here, but I think we need to have a general meeting with all Comms stakeholders about what we include and how we handle it after it is posted, if we are going to suggest posting metrics material to Wikipedia outlets.
