Hi social media team,
I think this would be a great story for social media, and I thought we had posted it already, but don’t see it on our Wikipedia Twitter account.
Here’s what I tweeted on my personal account, in case it’s helpful:
Meet the Ultimate WikiGnome: the story of one of @Wikipedia's top editors, featuring ex-colleague @StevenWalling https://medium.com/backchannel/meet-the-ultimate-wikignome-10508842caad
https://twitter.com/fabriceflorin/status/563095938060021763
Feel free to retweet — or develop our own message, as you prefer.
Tip of the hat to Andrew Lih for sharing it with us ...
Cheers,
Fabrice

I would argue it seems kind of weird to namedrop Steven here (the story isn’t about him, after all!). But other than that it looks good. Perhaps:

If we're sending this to the wider channels (not experienced Wikim/pedians) I wouldn't emphasize wiki-gnome. "One man's quest to rid Wikipedia of exactly one grammatical mistake" is better.

Agree. I'd like us to avoid the sort of belittling language like Steven is quoted as using. While Wikipedians may find WikiGnome endearing, I think it perpetuates stereotypes with the broader public.
