Agree. I'd like us to avoid the sort of belittling language like Steven is quoted as using. While Wikipedians may find WikiGnome endearing, I think it perpetuates stereotypes with the broader public.

If we're sending this to the wider channels (not experienced Wikim/pedians) I wouldn't emphasize wiki-gnome. "One man's quest to rid Wikipedia of exactly one grammatical mistake" is better.

Or, to @mention the author out of courtesy:

Should still fit, but obviously the latter can probably be dropped. Just think the Wikimedia spirit commands us to credit freelancers :)

I would argue it seems kind of weird to namedrop Steven here (the story isn’t about him, after all!). But other than that it looks good. Perhaps:

Hi social media team,
I think this would be a great story for social media, and I thought we had posted it already, but don’t see it on our Wikipedia Twitter account.
Here’s what I tweeted on my personal account, in case it’s helpful:
Meet the Ultimate WikiGnome: the story of one of @Wikipedia's top editors, featuring ex-colleague @StevenWalling https:// medium.com/backchannel/meet-the-ultimate-wikignome-10508842caad

Tip of the hat to Andrew Lih for sharing it with us ...
Cheers,

This story has been mentioned lots of places yesterday and today, including briefly today on the American radio program Marketplace!
