Hi, we are pleased to announce a new kind of event (wikifestival) that
Amical is organizing for World's Music Day next June 21. We would like to
ask you if it would be possible to plan some tweets for that day.
The official page is www.diadelamusica.cat (in Catalan) --> if you prefer,
we can translate it into English for international users
Below is the explanation of the event.
David Parreño Mont
Communications
Amical Wikimedia
*Idea*
The idea is to plan a one whole day *wikifestival* for improving Music
related content on ALL ongoing Wikimedia projects with an active Catalan
version (Wikipedia, Wikisource, Wikiquote, Wikidata, Wiktionary, Wikimedia
Commons...)
It will work somehow like and edit-a-thon but with 9 ongoing challenges,
where attendees can join:
# 1: All about 10 most important Catalan music instruments (Wikipedia)
# 2: Catalan pop rock artists (Wikipedia)
# 3: All About Enric Granados (Wikidata)
# 4: Barcelona's Auditorium 2016 programme (Wikipedia)
# 5: Enric Morera Year (Wikipedia, Wikiquote, Wikidata)
# 6: 100 quotes on Catalan Music (Wikiquote)
# 7: 10 PD catalan sheet music (Scanning for Wikisource)
# 8: Illustrating a Musical instruments dictionaire previously released by
TERMCAT (Commons & Wiktionary)
# 9: Music theory book for children (Wikibooks)
*Why:-*We wanted to share this wikifestival idea of all sister projects
working together around a topic on one day opened to the main public.
- Because we believe & love Wikipedia but also its sister projects, and we
want people to discover them to bigger audiences
- To improve outreach on sister projects and have a global view of Catalan
Community of editors
- To held an "end of the course event" with students who have been active
on our educational projects
*Where:*
- In the Library of the Music Museum of Barcelona, a long term partner
which has facilitated us several contacts with Barcelona Music sector.
*Shared Organization*
This event has been co-organized with:
- Barcelona Music School ESMUCC (to find volunteer, attendees, pro
musicology teachers)
- Barcelona Music Museum & Library (host)
- Barcelona Auditorium: Contact with sector professionals
- TERMCAT: Terminology center: released a music dictionaire
- Amical Wikimedia : project lead & wiki things

So we are waiting to publish the Caitlyn Jenner story; it still needs a
lead image.
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Blog/Drafts/Caitlyn_Jenner
Would it be possible to tweet at her new twitter handle @Caitlyn_Jenner
asking for an updated image for Wikipedia?
Copy could be something like " Hello Caitlyn, Wikipedia doesn't have a
current image of you. Can you take a selfie for us?"
Just a thought Heather, Sam, and I had.
What do you guys think?

Hello Everyone,
We have published "How the Odia Wikimedia community is working to acquire
content from newspapers and state portals" to the blog. URL:
https://blog.wikimedia.org/2015/06/03/odia-wikipedia/
Thanks to Subhashish for writing the story and Ed, Fabrice, and Joe for
editing.
Below are some proposed social media messages. Please tweak as needed.
*Twitter (@wikimedia/@wikipedia):*
• More citations for Odia Wikipedia (@odiawiki) as the community designs
character encoding converters to make more content available in Unicode.
• The Odia Wikimedia community (@odiawiki) has built new converters, making
Odia sources more accessible than ever.
• The Odia Wikimedia community (@odiawiki) has built a tool to make Odia
sources easier to access and share.
• A 13th birthday present from the Odia Wikimedia community (@odiawiki) - a
tool to make Odia sources easier to use.
*Facebook/Google+*
• The Odia-language Wikimedia community has successfully built character
encoding converters to convert digital content from newspapers, magazines
and portals created in proprietary non-standard encoding systems into
Unicode. Because of mainstream media does not make use of the Unicode
standard, a massive amount of content does not appear in search engines,
and it is difficult to locate relevant content. The converters will help
editors to search useful content online and, ultimately, enrich the Odia
Wikipedia with new sources, just in time for its thirteenth birthday.
Thanks,
