Hi Social Media folks,
What I've heard from my colleagues is that Facebook is the best social
media platform we have for recruiting people to come to in-person events
like workshops and editathons.
I'm wondering if Facebook has any free advertising that they're willing to
give to small nonprofits like Cascadia Wikimedians. It would be great to
promote our events, the UW Visiting Scholar position, etc with wider reach
than the few clicks that we get to our existing page (probably because only
a small percentage of our potential audience knows of our existence). Do
you have any tips for how we might be able to get donated ad space from
Facebook, and/or get in-kind donations for Facebook advertising?
To the best of my knowledge WMF doesn't have a budget for social media ads
that can be granted to affiliates, so I'm wondering what other options are
available.
