Hi everyone,
Sharing this update about publishing on social channels as a FYI for
everyone.
In an effort to distribute the work load of publishing content, WMF
Communications Intern Joe Sutherland will be joining Michael Guss in
posting from our official Facebook and Twitter accounts (the general
Wikipedia page on Facebook and @Wikimedia and @Wikipedia on Twitter).
To avoid overlap, we've defined exactly what type of content Joe will be
posting vs. what Michael already posts. For the moment, Joe will be posting
the following type of content:
- Content promoting each blog post after it is published (drafting the
content can still be collaborative but Joe will do the actual posting on
social)
- Any content Joe surfaces and proposes
- Time sensitive updates or stories when Michael is not available
In addition, WMF Communications Intern Andrew Sherman is now publishing the
translations of the Wikipedia highlights on Facebook. These are
language-specific posts targeted at different areas around the world.
Michael will continue to publish the majority of social content outside of
these two areas. Of course, we'll still have a collaborative process for
drafting content and will continue to use the "four eyes" principle for all
posts to make sure content that goes out on our social channels is
typo-free and effective.
Please let me know if you have any questions, and thank you Joe and Andrew
for taking on these additional responsibilities! Joe will have credentials
to post beginning this week.
