A heads-up that plans for a WMF-owned URL shortener are going to be a
topic at this IRC meeting tomorrow, as that's an idea which we have
been discussing in the social media team in the past, too (although
IIRC that was mostly before t.co became the mandatory URL shortener on
Twitter).

Subject: [Wikitech-l] short RfC review meeting Wednesday: five quick decisions
To: Wikimedia developers <wikitech-l(a)lists.wikimedia.org>
This Wednesday, 2100-21:30 UTC, let's have a thirty-minute RfC review
meeting to check on a few proposals to consolidate, and whether a few
authors have done their next steps from the last few months. (If people
want to answer these questions onlist/onwiki that's fine too.)

I have some open questions:
[...]
2. URL shortener<https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Requests_for_comment/URL_shortener>(and
URL
Shortener Service<https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Requests_for_comment/URL_shortener_service_f…>,
probably to be consolidated). Do we have the implementation details Tim
wanted?
[...]
We'll talk in #wikimedia-office on Freenode, at 2100 UTC on March 12:

Hi all,
Heather Walls (hwalls at wikimedia dot org) from the WMF
Communications has now joined this list and will be actively involved
in reviewing or drafting social media messages, helping us to fill
these channels with attractive content. As always, if you know people
who are interested in contributing to this work, please invite them to
this list or to the social media calendar page on Meta.

Hi Charles,
Pretty close! The list you emailed is our old 'private' internal list. We
have a new public mailing list we use for this now (I should try and add an
auto reply actually to the old list). I've copied in the new list but it's
at social-media(a)lists.wikimedia.org you are welcome to join as well!
Personally I'm happy to re share the post, I'll wait for another set of
eyes to agree first though.
