Hi,
thank you for a warm welcome!
I am very happy to be able to join you and I hope to be able to contribute to our work very soon. I have put some info on http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Research:Committee#Members.
In my view, taking care about Wikipedia related research and helping manage Wikipedia research projects better is such a complex challenge that probably not any single person, be it an research expert or simply anyone of good will, could assume to posses all necessary experience or expertize. In accordance with this belief, let me summarize where I believe I could contribute the most:
- studies encompassing human subject participation: I have conducted several large sample studies on Internet usage/usage attitudes based on typical research methodology in social sciences (user behavior, socio-demographic data, attitude scales and similar); I guess my most valuable contributions could be related to studies and projects of this typical approach to social research;
- usability/human-computer interaction: while I have less experience with usability studies (I have conducted only one such study), I believe I could handle a typical problem in the field and probably help around organization/management of related projects;
- research management in general: well, as you know, after doing empirical research for some time, almost every social scientists starts turning into a research manager; I guess I would be able to help solve research related organizational problems in general, come up with new ideas on how to conduct some specific type of Wikipedia related study, and similar.
Finally, I hope to able to contribute the most where the community and the RCom expect a contribution to be made.
Again, thanks Ziko and Daniel for their welcome messages, thanks Dario for his kind invitation to join, thanks Milos for making me believe that I can contribute here, and hope to meet the others soon!
Kind regards, Goran
