Hello, As you may now, the pages of pywikibot mailing lists (*Pywikipedia-l* https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/pywikipedia-l, *Pywikipedia-bugs* https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/pywikipedia-bugs, *Pywikipedia-announce* https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/pywikipedia-announce, *Pywikibot-commits* https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/pywikibot-commits) have changed.
It's based on one of templates that has been written by Quim Gil with some small changes.
What do you think about it? Is any further changes needed?

Hello Amir and Quim,
That looks much much nicer than the default mailman wikipage. Congratulations!

Renaming mailing lists can get a bit messy so we try to avoid it as much as possible as archives are extremely fragile and it takes quite a bit of ops time to get the list renamed. Is there a lot of support for a rename amongst the list subscribers?
We can make a new mailing list named pywikibot-l and mass-subscribe pywikipedia-l members and then close pywikipedia-l We did this for pywikibot-commits, but the archives would be disconnected
If you think it's okay to do this with cost of archive disconnection, show your support so We will start doing it.

Could we have our cake and eat it?
pywikipedia-l closes down as-is, but remains accessible so that existing links work properly.
pywikibot is a clone of pywikipedia, with the archives roughly stitched together, but the ops team able to take any and all shortcuts in the process.

I think you should do it right if you're going to do it. But as Ryan says, you have to be sure.
There's not really even such a thing as a rename AFAIK. Rename is make a new list and copy over the config to the new list and then set the right new list name in new list settings and then copy over the archives. Also, set redirects at the old name for both HTTP and SMTP. And this whole time you're either hoping no one mails the list or you've stopped message processing for every list on the server. (they are queued not lost)
I guess then you also need to regenerate archives to fix some links. But old links will keep working as redirects so maybe that's not critical. (I know first hand that regenerating archives even without having done surgery can be a problem)
