porting scripts from other sources

botwiki:Template:Script <http://botwiki.sno.cc/wiki/Template:Script> lists some old PWB scripts. it:Utente:BimBot/Scripts <https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Utente:BimBot/Scripts> contains some others. They could still be useful, even if they'd be rewritten almost completely.

new "version" item on Bugzilla

Currently, the "Version" field of our bugs can only be set to one of "compat (1.0)", "core (2.0)" or "unspecified". Why not to create a new "both" option to explicitly indicate that the bug is valid for both versions? So, "unspecified" would only mean that the bug has not been tested on both versions. (Ideally, the "version" field should consist of two checkboxes, one for each version.)

This is not a bug in testing. The build is broken

The build was repeatedly broken over the last week. Two of the build breakages have been fixed. I think one was caused by changes to WMF site configuration. https://travis-ci.org/wikimedia/pywikibot-core/builds/30824554 And the other caused by merging a fix without checking the tests worked correctly. https://travis-ci.org/wikimedia/pywikibot-core/builds/30831527 And there is still one more bug that needs to be fixed. https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=68564 Or we need to roll back the several commits which caused categories to be broken. As we may need to roll back several commits, could we please not check in new code while the build is broken. -- John Vandenberg

scripts repository

Are we going to have a 'scripts' repository (see bug 64871 <https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=64871>), really? Pros: * the size of the package would decrease dramatically (more than half of the overall), becoming a cleaner environment for experienced users who only run their own scripts; * we could move most scripts to subdirectories without running into maintainability issues. Cons: * Gerrit patches that change both scripts and core files would have to be split in two; * less experienced users (who often use the bundled scripts) would have to fetch dependencies.

Retrieve content of multiple pages at once

I remember that in compat we have a function named "getAll" or something like that which will retrieve content of pages at once. Although in core we have parameter "content" in most functions, it is possible that we want to get content of pages which are irrelevant to each other (and therefore we can't use existing functions). How can I request new components for the product "Pywikibot" in Bugzilla? They would be extremely useful, especially for very used scripts like textlib.py.

Can we establish a guideline on when to mark our bugs as "VERIFIED FIXED"? Is that status useful?
