interwiki links on templates should be positioned between <noinclude></noinclude>-tags. Otherwise they would be displayed on every page the template is included. I've seen it at [http://pt.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Predefini%C3%A7%C3%A3o:Info/Cidad…]

Categories may not been removed if they are between <includeonly></includeonly>-tags in templates. I guess this comes from removeDisabledParts method called by wikipedia.getCategoryLinks. I've seen it at [http://ro.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Format%3AInfobox_Localitate&diff=…] where [[Category:Settlement articles requiring maintenance]] was deleted.

Summary: Get rid of "Checked for running processes. "
Initial Comment:
Whenever the pywikipedia bot is started, or "wikipedia" module imported, one gets the following message:
% python version.py
Checked for running processes. 1 processes currently running, including the current process.
Pywikipedia (r6577 (wikipedia.py), kwi 05 2009, 11:19:22)
Python 2.5.1 (r251:54863, Oct 18 2007, 01:42:40)
[GCC 3.3.2]
This is very annoying when using for example 'pydoc'.
Also I expect my bot running in cron to be quiet when for example no work is to be done.
Enabling logging in the bot does help, and one gets mailed every time when the cron executes the job.
(No, redirecting stderr is not an option since getting mail from cron is useful when things go south).
Can we make this off by default?

Hi guys,
This weekend I went to the dev meeting in Berlin. Spoke to a number of
people and now I have some things i want to work on:
*Mailing lists : Already did a post about that a while ago (you probably
missed that one). Bug filed at
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=18388
*I18n : I talked to Siebrand about moving translations to translatewiki
and importing these into pywikipedia. This would give us an easy way to
get a lot of our messages translated.
*User messages: Currently when you run a bot you'll get flooded with a
lot of messages. I would like to introduce message levels (like in
syslog) to be able to control this. From the rfc:
0 Emergency: system is unusable
1 Alert: action must be taken immediately
2 Critical: critical conditions
3 Error: error conditions
4 Warning: warning conditions
5 Notice: normal but significant condition
6 Informational: informational messages
7 Debug: debug-level messages
*Global botflag: Currently pywikipedia doesn't seem to understand global
flags.
*Api: We should probably keep in touch with the api people. For example
implementing a namespace filter on the api side shouldn't be to
difficult. Fancy pagegenerators could probably be implemented in the api
too.

Summary: interwiki.py does reverts
Initial Comment:
I got this message. As far as I know is this an old feature, that should be solved a long time ago.
At this moment I'm working with revision 5909. But I don't know with which version I did the reverts.
For the description of the feature see the message send by someones else that detected this feature.
Hello Carsrac,
I would like to draw your attention to these edits made by your bot: [http://de.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Auge&diff=48157069&oldid=48020013 article de:Auge] and [http://la.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=The_Beatles&diff=562763&oldid=562… article la:The Beatles]. Obviously, the bot didn't edit the version that was at that time the current one, but an older one. That's equivalent to doing a revert. It seems that the bot edited the second last version that had been created by a bot. In these cases that meant a revert of [http://de.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Auge&diff=48157069&oldid=47723213 two versions] of de:Auge and of [http://la.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=The_Beatles&diff=562763&oldid=551… 24 versions] of la:The Beatles.
How could that happen? Is there any reason to believe this didn't happen more often? I believe these are questions to be well considered since the bot seems to have done several thousand, if not tens of thousands of edits during that time. And it would be very assuring to know that the possibility that this still can or will happen can be ruled out.

Message:
Edit conflict detection has apparently been broken for a very long time,
due to a Mediawiki UI change. (yay for text-scraping :( )
r6536 fixed edit conflict handling. Please reopen the bug if such behavior
still occur after updating.

This more likely seems to be the same as [ 1790473 ] Interwiki bot
overwrites changes, no edit conflict.

I don't know whether this and "[ 1999895 ] iw bot doesn't detect edit
conflict" are the same bug, but here it does not really seem to be an edit
conflict. We are talking about 11 and 19 days, repeat DAYS, old versions
here.

rciw.py for example *will* trigger this behavior quite often, sometimes
working on a version more than 10 hours old. I am not however, able to
confirm this on the standard interwiki.py
