I experimented and found, that it is caused by combination of

self.putSpacesInLists(text) self.removeUselessSpaces(text)

when I disable both, this page is not changed.

Message: Problably has been fixed in r11406. This bug affects all text replacements with textlib.replaceExcept() method and 'template' exception while nested templates are like {{A{{B}}{{C}}1{{D}}}} (a number between templates).
