Subject: [Commons-l] Help fund a macro lens for a Commons contributor
Hi list,
this is just to let you know that a group of Commons volunteers have
just launched a crowdfunding campaign at Indiegogo to fund a macro
lens for Jeevan Jose a.k.a. Jkadavoor so as to allow him to take even
better pictures of the amazing biodiversity in his home state of
Kerala, India.
The pictures, of course, are released by Jee under a free licence and
uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, and then used in Wikipedia articles in
multiple languages.
As an uninvolved person who has just been made aware of this, all I
can say is: have a look at the campaign page at
<http://igg.me/at/jkadavoor> and decide for yourselves whether this is
a project you want to help with.
[CC-ing this to the Commons mailing list as well.]
Regards,

Hi,
The first European Games [1] will be held in Baku, Azerbaijan, from 12 to
28 June 2015. I'm thinking of participating as a photographer.
Are there other people interested ?

Dear all (if there is any),
I just confirmed for this list and think it is a good idea to start to
introduce myself ... and ask who additionally is here.
I am Achim Raschka from the German Wikipedia and I started a project called
Festivalsommer (means festival summer) in the beginning of this year. For
this project we got some budget to buy three sets of festival cameras and
we sent out wikipedians and commons photographers to several festivals over
the summer period. I think we were quite successful with a total of more
tha 70 festivals visitied and by now more than 12.000 pcs uplaoded from
more than 500 bands or artits - you can find an overview on those outputs
at
https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Festivalsommer/Bildergebnisse_2013
For 2014 we will go further to our second round - and I think it is a very
good idea to have some links to other international organised photographers
since there are several overlaps and other cool ideas in the wiki world
starting from sports and music photography to aerial photographies and
others.
That's me - who are you?
Achim
