Welcome back to another thrilling round of What Are Those Multimedia People Up To Anyway!!!!
We've just come out of our weekly planning meeting, and we'd like to give you a brief [0] overview of what we're doing and planning.
== Media Viewer ==
A release is coming up! Not, as erroneously announced last week, on the 20th of March, but coming soon anyway around the 10th of April, if all goes as planned.
=== What we did last week ===
Our previous iteration [1] has some interesting bugs and tech debt in the accepted column, though they're mostly unremarkable to a layperson. Most interesting perhaps are the shiny new metrics dashboards [2] [3] that I whipped up for us. We're also making good progress on tests [4] [5] and have accomplished some important refactoring [6] [7].
=== What we're gonna do this week ===
Our current iteration [8] is set up with some interesting cards, too. We've made good progress on the share [9] and embed [10] cards, which should be closed this week pending unit testing. Hot on its tail will be the download feature [11], which will use the same UI.
The other interesting cards are ways to turn off the viewer [12] [13] and a few fixes to how we interact with the site [14] and your browser [15].
=== What we're planning for coming weeks ===
The interesting things remaining in our current release plan [16] include being able to view images in the viewer from a file page [17], opening the viewer via a query parameter regardless of preferences [18], and a big pile of bugfixes and technical debt.
== Other projects ==
We have a few other plans, but nothing terribly concrete. UploadWizard in particular is on our radar, as is TimedMediaHandler, but we haven't really started working on them in any real capacity other than Gergo's fine work with his OPW intern, Anu [19]. We'll increase our attention to these projects in the coming months.
== Process ==
As a relatively new team, we're still hammering out what sort of process we want to use. We intend to start a conversation about that process on- wiki in the coming week, especially surrounding time-based and release- based planning in tandem. Keep your eyes here for more.
