The WMF Engineering Team is kindly working on Media Viewer, which would

show a pop-up of some sort when you click an image.

Sorry for being overly pendantic, but probably better to say WMF multimedia team is working on media viewer. WMF engineering is a very big group of people - the vast majority of whom are not working on multimedia viewer.
