Many contributors to tests at incubator complain because of the prefixes in the title. This problem consists, of course, of two parts: creating pages & linking to pages A solution for creating pages I am developing, is a (special) page where you have to select the language and project, give page title, and it will take care of the prefix, possibly with cookies Now, where should I make that page? I have atm 3 possibilities: * On my toolserver account: http://toolserver.org/~robin/?tool=createpagehttp://toolserver.org/%7Erobin/?tool=createpage-- working (but without cookies) ** Good, but outside incubator itself * Manipulated page with javascript: http://incubator.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:CreatePage -- interface ready but does not do anything (yet) ** Easy, directly on incubator but javascript is bad for these things... * MediaWiki extension -- nothing (yet) ** Best solution, but I don't have commit access
Please give ideas, comments, ... Otherwise I am almost the only person posting on this mailing list (well, sorry for all my spam then :p)
PS: The Incubator logo has been added to the logo at the main page; a step closer to get incubator known :)
Greetings, Robin

For creating the pages a simple form on the wiki could be useful. By using the {{int:Lang}} meachanism used on Commons, it would be easy to prefill the form with the language code. It's not so easy to obtain the project code, but that can be solved by giving five text fields and buttons - one for each project. The user would have to add the pagename and hit the "create page" button. This would of course only work, if the language is selectable in the preferences. This isn't the case for most tests on the Incubator as I just saw. But as it is useful anyway to be able to choose the language, you want to work on, in the preferences, that should be changed.
The easiest way to make it work for linking would be a gadget, I guess. Just a little Javascript, that adds the prefixes on save.

I have been thinking about it, and: * If every test used <inputbox>default=Wx/xx/</inputbox> (which is already used on most tests) and if every link has a prefix (which could be the case with the script from Slomox - now available as gadget), then we might not need such a special page or tool to create pages, because prefixes are already added. * Maybe we could ask people working at incubator for feedback? For example a link in the sidebar to a feedback form/email. Maybe I'll propose something on the incubator community portal.
PS: I created the incubator {{int:language}} mechanism long before {{int:lang}} was on commons. Anyway, this won't work, because userlang is rarely the same as test language.

What do you want, if you mess up the whole incubator without discussion. I understand why you are blocked on several Wikimedia projects.

Et moi je comprends pourquoi vous êtes administrateur du dit Incubateur.
