Wikipedia & Education enthusiasts,
The Wikipedia & Education User Group and our hosts Wikimedia Serbia are
thrilled to announce applications are open to attend EduWiki Conference
2023 (https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/EduWiki_Conference_2023), the
conference for those working in the Education space of Wikimedia.
Applications will be accepted until January 29, *2023*. The conference will
be held in Belgrade, Serbia, on May 26-28, 2023.
This conference is a platform for shared experience from working in the
Education space of Wikimedia. The conference welcomes education leaders in
Wikimedia and mission aligned organizations. The program will be built
collaboratively under the coordination of the Program Committee.
Before you rush off to apply, please carefully read these important
details!
-
In order to facilitate meaningful participation from a diverse set of
Wikimedia and education leaders worldwide, all interested prospective
attendees will be required to apply for a spot for attendance. There is
no later opportunity to register; if you want to attend EduWiki 2023, you
must apply by January 29.
-
We are offering a limited number of full and partial scholarships,
thanks to funding from the Wikimedia Foundation. Scholarships are available
to ensure participant diversity and enable us to have those most connected
to Wikipedia and education work attend. Applications for attendance will
also be assessed by the Scholarship Committee.
-
We expect significant interest in this conference. This means we
encourage you to spend time carefully reviewing your answers to the
application questions before submitting.
-
This is a large application form and to avoid losing your answers we
recommend that you write down the responses in a word editor and copy them
to the application form once you’re ready to submit. For your
convenience you can find all the questions here:
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/EduWiki_Conference_2023/Application_text
(but
remember, put your answers into the form, not on Meta).
To apply, fill out this form (https://forms.gle/q3xNxNpLt3HRbmgy6) prior to
end of day on Sunday, January 29, 2023, AoE (see in your time zone:
https://zonestamp.toolforge.org/1675080032). As noted, we expect
significant interest, so we do not expect to extend this deadline. Late
applications will not be accepted.
Hello.
This is a call for program and scholarship Committee Members! Who will
speak at our EduWiki Conference? Who will receive a scholarship? We need
volunteers who want to answer these questions.
We are going to form two committees that will help put together the program
and schedule and the participants' list for the EduWiki Conference. In May
2023, the Serbian capital of Belgrade will host the next EduWiki
conference. It is organized by the Wikipedia & Education User Group, with
support by Wikimedia Serbia.
We are going to form two committees: a program committee and a scholarship
committee. The program committee will care for a program that best
represents the global and diverse community of Wikimedia related education.
The participants of the conference want a well-balanced program with high
quality contributions.
Participants can apply for a scholarship to travel to Belgrade and stay
there. The scholarship committee will evaluate the applications and decide
who receives a scholarship, in a fair and timely fashion.
Do you want to be a committee member? Please apply until December 7, 2022,
through this form https://forms.gle/wpjGUwsqBdTZRDXB6 . We will ask you
via the form which committee(s) you want to join and what your relevant
experience is.
The Wikipedia & Education User Group board members will assess the
applications to the committees and provide answers in a timely manner. We
expect to onboard committee members by mid-December.
Add https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/EduWiki_Conference_2023 (under
construction) to your watchlist for more information!
Please, feel free to reach out to me (joalpe(a)wmnobrasil.org) or other
Wikipedia & Education User Group board members if you have any questions.
Cheers,
João Alexandre Peschanski
on behalf of the Wikipedia & Education User Group
