Hey everyone,
please welcome with me our new staff member rxy, formerly known as Hosiryuhosi on wikimedia projects. He’s a very experienced user, IRC op and also a great bot operator.
Many thanks to him for taking that new position!

Good god on a greenstick. After my exploits on wikipedia, I didn't even realise I was still on this list. How do I get off? The last thing you want on the mailing list of the counter vandalism network is a vandal.

Hi,
As of now, Barras is also a list admin for the cvn mailing list.
He'll be joining AlexZ and myself.

Hey CVNlers!
I’ve just removed PeterSymonds and Misza as staff members on CVN. Peter requested all his rights to be removed to me back in January already - where I only removed his on-wiki permissions. Now I ran a script removing him also as CVN staff.
As for Misza, he’s been inactive for ages already and I just looked up some private archives where I found that I proposed his removal back in August 2012, which I’ve no done, even thought a bit late. (Not that there was any rush for this anyway.)
So don’t be worried, I didn’t went rouge removing randomly some staffers ;-)
Have fun using the countervandalism network!

Hi everyone!
I have some great news. The bots on CVN's main server, "Srv-2", have been
updated to the latest version of SWMTBot. The bots now running the new
version include CVNBot2, CVNBot3, CVNBot4, CVNBot5, CVNBot6, CVNBot7,
CVNBot8, CVNBot9, CVNBot10, CVNBot11, CVNBot15, SWBot, SWBot3, SWBot4, and
wbbot. The bot in #cvn-commons-uploads, Cubbie, will be updated at a later
point. If you have any questions, concerns, or if you notice a problem with
any of the bots, please let us know in #countervandalism.
Thanks,
Seahorse
Hi all,
Just so you're aware, CVN staff now have access to
restart the bots on Az1568's server, srv2. Feel free to poke anyone in
#countervandalism if you notice something amiss.
Thanks,
Peter
Hey all,
I remember reporting (one of?) the changes to the feed during code-review
and demanded that it be reverted for 1.19 From what I remember it was
indeed reverted for 1.19
I'm not sure how this has passed through (assuming it is indeed caused by
a change in 1.19)
Can you please provide me more details about which portion of the log
message reporting has changed in an incompatible way?
I will make sure this is reverted asap. it is an unacceptable change on
such short notice, we can't possibly change all our bots (not to mention
other people's bots) since this is affecting all post-log action hooks we
have (including those for reporting of local blocks and preventing
cross-wiki vandalism). As well as our hooks for the patrol-action, delete-
actionupload-action (commons upload patrol!) on others.
Thanks,
- Krinkle

They changed the format that log actions were reported among other things, so SWMTBot and pgkbot are obviously not reporting them. I am a little frustrated that they changed this. Don't the devs know how many tools they would break by doing this? If you could connect to freenode and we could discuss this further, that would be great. Thanks.
Hi all,
Firebolt here! I just wanted to let you know a few things:
1) I'm back from my short hiatus, so I'll be back up to full activity.
2) Our wiki at http://countervandalism.net can now be edited again. We had a minor problem with an extension not allowing edits to be saved, but everything has been fixed now.
3) We're still working on fixing cvn-srv2 and getting all of the bots hosted on it up and running. Hopefully it will be fixed soon, and we'll let you know when it is.
Happy holidays and Happy New Year as well!

Hi,
Firebolt has informed us that he will not be available for roughly a month,
starting today. He won't have internet access so he obviously can not
connect to IRC. If any of his bots have any issues, let us know in
#countervandalism <irc://freenode/%23countervandalism> and will be able to
look into the problems for you.
Best wishes,
Seahorse
