just FYI I saw a news email flying by some Debian Developers communicating that the intention is to don't support Python2 *at all* in Debian 11 Bullseye (which is Buster+1).
I know we still have Jessie, Stretch and Buster, but worth noting!

That decision makes good sense. The Python project will consider Python 2.x out of support after 2020-01-01. Buster will keep it alive for us for quite a while after that, but we will need to do the work to remove our use of it as we find time.
