Hm....I guess I should have posted about this here. Mako recently
created a MW extension called "EditImage" which lets you to easily
crop images.

image and try it out... change the skin in your prefs back to Monobook

I left some preliminary bug reports here

that with a little bit more work it can be stable enough to present
for enabling on Commons.
