Versions with "wmf" in their number are very tailored and configured for
installation on Wikipedia and other Wikimedia Foundation sites. Nothing
there is a secret, but you probably don't need it to run VisualEditor on
your wiki.
For a private site you should probably get a stable release of MediaWiki,
such as 1.22 or 1.21.3. That said, the VisualEditor is a very experimental
and quickly developing piece of software so it's imaginable that it will
need the very latest MediaWiki version straight from the Gerrit master
branch. Try it to find out :)

Yes, this is a valid mirror and you can download a zip there.

Ok, thanks!
Is this the files I can copy (
https://github.com/wikimedia/mediawiki-extensions-Parsoid) or will I need
to do the git thing?

One last question; Is it possible to install git
on a webhosting I have
at example hostgator.com?
I don't know. This really depends on your host. Maybe somebody else here
will know?..
If you can't install git on the host, but can copy files, then you can try
running git on your own machine to get the source code and then copy the
tree to your host.
You will definitely need node.js to run Parsoid, and it must be node.js
0.8 or 0.10.
