Is there any reason we don't suggest for merging accounts with matchin
names but differing emails? ... if the user knows the password, the
account is effectively theirs seems silly to make them take the extra
step of going and changing the email before it shows in the list.

I was under the impression that it looked through similar accounts testing
the password you entered as well. As long as you know the password, you can
merge it.
