Recent Changes Help page on Meta has been changed

Hello Tech-translators-ambassadors (Sorry for cross-posting.) *TL;DR* Recent Changes Help page on Meta <https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help:Recent_changes> has been changed to reflect the current state of Recent Changes. That page can be now translated <https://meta.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Translate&group=page-H…>. Local pages <https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q3234746> which are not up-to-date should be redirected to that page. *Background* Since September, the New filters for Recent changes <https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Edit_Review_Improvements/New_filters_for_edi…> have been progressively released on almost all wikis (only wikis using FlaggedRevisions are missing). That change introduces new features, which are now documented on the main Help page for Recent Changes, located on Meta <https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help:Recent_changes>. *For translators* The page on Meta can be now translated <https://meta.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Translate&group=page-H…>. I've tried to keep the maximum of items from the previous page, so translation memory can help. A new page, archiving the old configuration <https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help:Recent_changes/Configuration_without_O…>, has been created for people who have opt-out the new filters. Translation memory from the previous page is working. *For tech ambassadors* A lot of local Help pages regarding Recent Changes are not up to date. To be sure to keep those pages up to date, you can redirect local help pages to the centralized Meta page. Read-only Commons in preparation for 3D file support - 11 October

Hello, (I posted this on the the Commons Village Pump, apologies for cross-posting) The Multimedia team at the foundation is getting closer to enabling support for uploading and displaying 3D models on Commons. We have to do some work on the database to get ready for 3D file support. This means we'll need to put Commons in read-only mode for about 30 minutes on Wednesday October, 11th at 6:00 UTC. [0] You will be able to read, but not edit Commons for a short period of time. * You will not be able to edit or upload media for approximately 30 minutes on Wednesday, 11 October, starting at 6:00 UTC (07:00 BST, 08:00 CEST, 02:00 EDT, 23:00 PDT). * If you try to edit or save during these times, you will see an error message. We hope that no edits will be lost during these minutes, but we can't guarantee it. If you see the error message, then please wait until everything is back to normal. Then you should be able to save your edit. But, we recommend that you make a copy of your changes first, just in case. Why? The team needs to modify the database primary master so it understands this new file type. This will then allow for the future ability to upload and display 3D models on Commons (and embed in other Wikimedia projects). Want a sneak-peek? [1] It is important to note that the ability to upload 3D files will not be available immediately after the maintenance ends (but at a later date), this only involves the contributor-impacting database work. New filters for Edit review release by default: details and schedule

Phase 1 wikis have been chosen by the development team for an early release. They will receive messages soon about this change. That early release is done to check if all is going good. We have repetitively tested the new features and we do not expect major issues. If your community wants to be included in Phase 1, please let us know (we may refuse if we have too much requests). - *Phase 2*: All communities except those with valid reasons why not, week of *September 19* Communities with specific concerns or internal discussion can request to have the deployment to their wikis delayed to phase 3 (see below) *if they have sensible, consistent with the project, actionable, realistic feedback to oppose* (at the development team's appreciation). - *Phase 3*: Holdover from phase 2, week of *October 1*.
