Heya folks :)
I just posted a note about this to the Wikivoyage Traveler Pubs. We
plan to enable access to the data on Wikidata for Wikivoyage on 26th
of August. Data like the international calling code, time zone or
currency in a Wikivoyage article can then come from Wikidata.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Cheers
Lydia

Hi folks,
As you probably know pywikipedia is migrating to git and after 26 July
SVN checkouts can't be updated so if bot operators don't switch to
git, their bots might not work properly.
I already sent global message for all targets but It's good to inform
local bot operators and put a message in bots' noticeboards
There is a blog post:
http://blog.wikimedia.org/2013/07/23/pywikipediabot-moving-to-git-on-july-2…
A technical manual for bot operators:

If people have question, they can ask in mailing list or IRC channel
of pywikipedia

FYI, quiet week next week as well.
Things will be a little more action packed the week of Aug 19th, though.
Best,
Greg

Hi folks,
we just changed the enwiki VisualEditor configuration in a couple
important ways:
- "Edit source" is now consistently labeled as such, across namespaces;
- The section edit link animation was disabled;
- VisualEditor links are secondary, rather than primary;
- VisualEditor links have a "beta" indicator next to them;
- When VisualEditor is first invoked, it shows a message explaining
its beta status.
These changes are explained in more detail here:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:VisualEditor/August_2013_update
We're discussing these changes on enwiki with the community, and are
not intending to immediately deploy them to other wikis that have
VisualEditor enabled, to allow some time for the dust to settle and
potentially make further refinements if needed.
However, we welcome feedback from other communities as well -- if
these changes work well in practice, we'll likely want to translate
the new messages and get them deployed to all wikis that have the
VisualEditor beta enabled, unless folks have significant concern about
them.
All best,
Erik

We're in August, so the account unifications may happen any time soon,
but no notifications have been sent to users. Is the plan again to give
them only few days to fix their accounts before they are messed up with?
Nemo
Hey Ambassadors!
Next week is Wikimania, as such, we aren't going to do any planned
deploys. Only very important hotfixes if absolutely needed.
However, just to get them on your radar early, see the Near Term section
of the wiki page:
https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/Deployments#Near_term
Especially:
* August 19th - 9am Pacific, OAuth deploy to testwikis (Chris S)
* August 21st - 11-noon Pacific, SecureLogin by default (Chris S/Chad)
* August 26th - Wikidata Phase 2 to Wikivoyage
Let me know if you have any questions,
Greg
