Hello everyone,
The Indic MediaWiki Developers User Group
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Indic_MediaWiki_Developers_User_Group> is
happy to announce Indic Wikimedia Hackathon 2023 on 16 & 17 December 2023
in Pondicherry, India. The event is for everyone who contributes to
Wikimedia’s technical spaces code developers, maintainers, translators,
designers, technical writers and other related technical aspects. Along
with that, contributors who don't necessarily contribute to technical
spaces but have good understanding of issues on wikis and can work with
developers in addressing them can join too. You can come with a project in
mind, join an existing project, or create something new with others. The
goal of this event is to bring together technical contributors from India
to resolve pending technical issues, bugs, brainstorm on tooling ideas, and
foster connections between contributors.
We have scholarships to support participation of contributors residing in
India.
The scholarship form can be filled at
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSd_Qqctj7I87QfYt5imc6iPcGPWuPfncCO…
and will close at 23:59 hrs on 7 October 2023 (Sunday) [IST].

What is this Learning Clinic for?
This clinic aims to collectively reflect on the work happening in South
Asia using data from grantees' reporting in 2022. We will focus on one or
two topics for discussion, drawing practical recommendations for future
work in the region, especially within the next round of grant proposals
starting in September 2023. This will include elements that grantees can
incorporate into their organizational and programmatic work, as well as
ways CIS and/or the Wikimedia Foundation can offer support.
What Do I Need to Prepare?
To make our session productive, please prepare the following:
-
Read this Learning document: Analysis based on grantee reporting in
South Asia
<https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Va1NT6O3OBZhh1XVepXV5einFsv-Biqmx0Zw_yK…>
-
Be ready to engage in a collective understanding of key work happening
in the region, which can inform future grant proposals and regional
discussions.
-
Help draw practical recommendations that can be considered in the next
round of funding proposals and for ongoing work in the region.
If you have any questions or need further information, please do not
hesitate to contact nitesh(a)cis-india.org.
Regards,
Nitesh Gill,
Program Officer,
