Hi everyone,
Hope you are all doing well and are safe amidst the ongoing COVID-19
Pandemic. On behalf of the Strategy Team [2] and the working group members
[3], I would like to take a moment with you to celebrate the publication of
the 2020 movement strategy recommendations, now live on Meta-wiki [1] and
express gratitude and appreciation for your efforts to share perspectives
into our process. Over the last two years, our movement has worked
tirelessly to produce these ideas to change our shared future. Many of you
participated in the online conversations, hosted strategy salons, attended
regional events, and connected with us in-person at Wikimania. These
contributions were invaluable, and will help make our movement stronger for
years to come.
The finished set of 10 recommendations emphasizes many of our core values,
such as equity, innovation, safety, and coordination, while tasking us
jointly to turn this vision into a reality. These recommendations clarify
and refine the previous version, which was published in January this year.
They are at a high strategic level so that the ideas are flexible enough to
be adapted to different global and local settings and will allow us to
navigate future challenges. Along with the recommendations, we have
outlined 10 underlying principles, a narrative of change, and a glossary of
key terms for better context. [5] [6] [7]
The recommendations are available in numerous languages, including Arabic,
German, Hindi, English, French, Portuguese, and Spanish for you to read and
share widely. We encourage you to read the recommendations in your own time
and at your own pace, either online [1] or in a PDF [4]. There are a couple
of other formats for you to take a deeper dive if you wish, such as a
one-page summary, slides, and office hours, all collected on Meta. If you
would like to comment, you are welcome to do so on the Meta talk pages.
However, please note that these are the final version of the
recommendations. No further edits will be made. This final version of the
recommendations embodies an aspiration for how the Wikimedia movement
should continue to change in order to advance that direction and meet the
Wikimedia vision in a changing world.
In terms of next steps, our focus now shifts toward implementation. In
light of the cancellation of the Wikimedia Summit, the Wikimedia Foundation
is determining the best steps for moving forward through a series of
virtual events over the coming months. We will also be hosting live office
hours [8] in the next coming few days, where you can join us to celebrate
the Strategy and ask questions! Please stay tuned, and thank you once again
for helping to drive our movement forward, together.
With thanks,
Rupika

Hello,
Hope this email finds you well. Some time ago, we informed you about this
opportunity. We are extending the deadline of applying for graphic
designers position till 24 May 2020:
https://cis-india.org/jobs/programme-associate-graphic-designer We are
adding the option for remote working for experienced candidates.
The communication associates position application is open until 20 May
2020: https://cis-india.org/jobs/programme-associate-communications and
similarly, we are adding an option of remote work for experienced
candidates.
If you have applied already you don't need to apply again, unless you want
to make major changes in the application.
We have got a couple of questions, and it is to clarify, because of ongoing
COVID-19 pandemic face-to-face interview is not possible currently or in
the near future.
You might have seen our email related to movement resources
needs-assessment. We believe that these two positions are going to play
important in the activity.
Thanks.

Hi Indian Wikisource Community,
As COVID-19 has forced the Wikimedia communities to stay at home and like
many other affiliates, CIS-A2K has decided to suspend all offline
activities till 15th September 2020 (or till further notice).I present to
you for an online training session for future coming months
1. Wikisource Skill Share,[1] a capacity-building initiative, where Indic
Wikisource contributors, both newcomers and experienced, can share
knowledge and skills with each other and clear confusions. Most of the
time, it will be done online on 1:1 basis, so it is just the right time to
participate there if you have not planned to do it or done it already.
Let's learn Wikisource together! I would like to invite experienced Indic
Wikisource contributors and sign your name at Willing to respond section
[2]. Newcomer or any Indic Wikisource contributors are welcome to join the
session with your queries and doubts.
2. Intensive Personalized Training (or IPT),[3] this also a
capacity-building initiative, where Indic Wikisource contributors,
especially newcomers could come with his/her queries and doubts. I, myself
will share my knowledge and skills with each contributor and clear
confusions. It will be done online on a 1:1 basis, so it is just the right
time to participate there if you have not planned to do so.
3. Online Proofread-edithon for all 12 Indic Wikisource language projects.
We are planning for an indic level online proofreadthon from 1 May 2020 to
10 May 2020. The book of the subject will be the classical literature of
your languages. We’ll share details about this in a separate email in a
couple of days.

Hi all,
CIS-A2K <https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/CIS-A2K> is planning to invest
some resources from May-June 2020 to create community movement resource
(CMR) materials in English and different Indic languages for Wikidata in
the form of tutorials, handbooks, infographics, videos, animations etc. The
aim of this initiative is to build a pool of resource materials for
Wikidata eventually, which will serve as ready-made handy references for
new as well as experienced users. You are requested to fill up this form
<https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfqSEoYLfjlIgDLOTlkDcLF9xDlHYfgkJI…>,
so that we can understand your needs on different topics of Wikidata. You
are also very welcome to actively participate in the process and help us
build the CMR with your different areas of expertise.
Take care,
Bodhisattwa (CIS-A2K)

Subject: [Wikimedia-l] Proposal for a multilingual Wikipedia
To: Wikimedia Mailing List <wikimedia-l(a)lists.wikimedia.org>
Hello all,
after talking about it a few times here, the official proposal for creating
the multilingual Wikipedia proposal is now on Meta.
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikilambda
The idea is to create abstract, language-independent content in Wikidata,
and then translate it into natural language using function. These functions
will be defined and maintained in a new Wikimedia project, which I
preliminary called Wikilambda.
Wikilambda will be a new Wikimedia project that allows to create, maintain,
catalog, and evaluate functions about all kind of things. You can find a
lot of further details in the link above. If you have any questions, I am
happy to answer them.
The official project proposal process basically says, make the proposal
here, and then go and tell everyone, and at some point, the Board might
look at this and say, yes good idea.
So I would love to collect many of your voices and support signatures, so
that I can go to the Board and tell them look at this :) So please sign
here:
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Talk:Wikilambda
Thank you,
Denny
