Hi
This is for your information, that the original calligraphic and
illuminated version of the Constitution of India
<https://en.wikisource.org/wiki/The_Constitution_of_India_(Original_Calligra…>
is now in English Wikisource, thanks to the tireless effort of the prolific
Wikisourcer User:Hrishikes.
User:Hrishikes was working on this edition of Constitution for a long time,
uploading each and every illustrations
<https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Constitution_of_India_(calligra…>,
working on complex templates for proofreading in Wikisource, identifying
each and every signatories and illustrators of the Constitution from the
signatures found. The extremely complex and time consuming work is now
complete.
In addition to that, all the signatories (which can be found here
<https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q477108>), illustrators and the
illustrations (which can be found here
<https://tools.wmflabs.org/reasonator/?q=Q21177783&lang=en>) have Wikidata
items now, connected properly.

Hello everyone,
I would like to revive this past discussion from July 2018 about Indian
Wikimedia community mailing list admin. I know it happened quite a long
back, but I felt it is worth reviving this discussion in general interest.
Recently a user approached me that they've been unable to subscribe to
mailing list directly, and they got a message they require admin approval.
Even after a week and their repeated emails to the mailing list admins,
there has been no response.
I request other Wikimedians to comment on this, and I opine that active [1]
Wikimedia users should be the admins of the Indian community mailing list.
Regards
Krishna

Subject: [Wikimedia-in-en] [Input needed] Friendly Space Policy Consultation
To: Wikimedians working on India related content on English Wikipedia &
related projects. <wikimedia-in-en(a)lists.wikimedia.org>
Dear Indian Wikimedians
Making Wikimedia events a friendly, welcoming environment in which all
users can interact fruitfully, learn from each other and inspire each
other, is a goal we all share. The Wikimedia Foundation currently is
looking into supporting this goal with an improved Friendly space policy,
specifically tailored to our big international events. We will build the
policy in a way that it will also serve as a minimal standard for all
Foundation supported events.
We do not want to build this new policy without input from the Indian
communities and we thought you as well as other Indian Wikimedians working
in your language versions could just be the persons to have ideas or
comments we need to hear. Please visit the consultation page on meta [1],
leave your input and spread the word to other Wikimedians! You are very
welcome to leave ideas and comments in other languages than English, please
use the language you feel comfortable expressing yourself.
We are also looking for help in translating the consultation page and also
this message. So if you could help with this or spread the word we need
help translating, we will also be grateful!
Of course you are also welcome to come back to us via email with any
questions you have.
Hoping to hear from you on Meta,
Christel

Hi Yohann,
Some parts of the reports are confusing to a general reader. I am not sure
if all the activities mentioned under the "Events" section are organised by
Wikimedia India, for example, "Project Tiger Writing Contest" Apart from
the equipment support, I would like to know WMIN's involvement in the
writing contest itself. Also in July-September 2018 report, 11th World
Hindi Conference 2018, Re-creation of CC-India chapter, India Independence
Day 2018 - Label-a-thon, are mentioned. It is confusing whether these
events are conducted by WMIN, or CIS-A2K, or other volunteers. It would be
great if you can make these clear by explicitly mentioning who organised
them
Thanks

Tesla Things
Hi,
I have some concerns regarding this whole process which, I think, need to
be addressed as soon as possible.
As far as I have understood, Samir is coming to India to get feedback from
the Indian affiliates and communities about the re-branding proposal and
report it back to WMF. Re-branding is a very debatable proposal which will
definitely affect, in a controversial and unclear way, the future of almost
all emerging communities, affiliates and sister projects.
So, my questions are,
1) Why was information about Samir's trip to India, not declared to the
communities well ahead of time so that the communities and affiliates could
express their voices and concerns directly with preparation?
2) Who decided that visiting only Punjabi, Hindi and Bangalore communities
is sufficient enough to provide the feedback of all Indian communities? Why
were not other communities and affiliates included in the process? What
criteria these three communities met so that they can represent the voices
from all over the country and why not other communities consulted about
this?
Why is Samir staying in Patiala, Delhi and Bangalore for extra days for
local sightseeing and not utilizing the days to communicate with other
communities and who planned for this kind of schedule?
How will it be ensured to provide ample opportunity for community members
to express their opinions? Online session is not a good option as many
don't have the necessary infrastructure to do so.
There is a feeling in the community that re-branding is already a made
decision by the WMF and this kind of non-transparency further endorses that
theory.
Hoping to get positive responses.
Regards,
Manoj Kulkarni
