hi,
I had suggested a list of activities at the beginning of my term as GLAM SIG here - http://wiki.wikimedia.in/Talk:GLAM_India. I've had to resign as GLAM SIG Chair mid-term. However, I thought that I should at least provide a summary of the efforts in India here for the benefit of the members.
However, I believe now to be a good time to begin crafting a GLAM policy for India for the WMIN Chapter. I understand that many of the Chapter members have approached various GLAMs in their individual capacity with the intention of getting the knowledge on Wikimedia projects. You may have been met with varied levels of responses - from a straight no to an expression of interest to a willingness to try this out and perhaps an embrace of the concept.
One of the highlights of the GLAM projects in India this year that was communicated on this list and elsewhere was the BNHS project in Mumbai [short report here - http://outreach.wikimedia.org/wiki/GLAM/Newsletter/August_2013/Contents/Ind… the project at the National Museum at New Delhi [page here - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:GLAM/NM]. I hope the volunteers who participated in the project were able to appreciate the issues faced and the problems encountered while undertaking the project.
There are small efforts undertaken by individuals who connect with GLAM personally using their personal contacts and are working towards getting the same on Wikimedia at their own pace. Let me take this opportunity to appreciate their efforts and their dedication.
warm regards,
Pradeep Mohandas

Activist editors game Wikipedia, a case study
This entire case study is a detailed summary with evidence provided in
links which shows how Wikipedia’s own guidelines, notice boards and
committees are gamed by activist editors. It shows how personal attacks are
leveraged by experienced editors and admins. It is suggested by this study
that this may be a symptom of an increasingly shrinking and increasingly
insular community who may be blind to its own toxicity to its core
principle of neutrality.

Hello Everyone!
We could use some fresh volunteers in the Grant Advisory Committee (GAC)!
As you may know, the GAC are community volunteers who are explicitly
invited[1] to review and evaluate grant proposals made in the Wikimedia
Foundation Project and Event Grants Program[2], and offer advice to both
grant applicants and the Foundation.
Read all about it on the Candidates page[3]. New members will be inducted
by the end of March 2014, so be sure to step forward before then.
Please help this message reach as many people as possible, by relaying it
to appropriate lists and village pumps.
And many thanks to our current and former GAC members!
Cheers,
Alex

Hoi,
I noticed that an article was written for Vimla Varma. As it was in
English, it was not that hard to find relevant facts about her and add them
to Wikidata. You can see the result here [1].
As I am a sucker for awards, I have added a Wikidata item for the Vidhan
Kirti award [2]. The point being that it is bes to share the accomplishment
of people. Getting an award is one visible way to recognise
accomplishments. I obviously know only about Mrs Varma as a recipient of
this award. You may know others.
PS It will take you at most 10 minutes to translate all the labels and
properties in your language. Everywhere where an item is used, your label
will be seen. It is truly an effective way to make information available.
Thanks,
GerardM
