I did that, and returned to the page, but it did not allow me to edit.
But as I said, it is not material to the process.

The FDC grants process has begun. We have already sent in a letter of
intent. We are now moving to the next phase of making the application.
For those who do not know about the FDC grant, this provides for staff,
office, and infrastructure. We have considered opening a office in
Bangalore, with a meeting room cum training center, where about 10
computers will be available for users / trainees. We can use this for city
community meets, wikiacademies, editathons, hackathons, etc.
This measure is to provide for a formal office for the Chapter in India,
and give ourselves a exclusive address to meet compliance issues better.
The facility is also expected to be more centrally located within the city
so that members and other Wikimedians do not find it difficult to visit the
office.
Yet another infrastructure proposal that has been considered is to have a
scanning facility to meet digitization requirements that can enable
wikisource, and other wikimedia commons file generation
We invite the community's suggestions towards major initiatives that can be
taken as part of our activities in the Calender year 2014. Kindly send in
your suggestions in the next 10 days. We will have discussions on the
suggestions through this period. We will add financial measures to the
proposals and submit to WMF.
This is an open brain storming. Every one can build on the ideas of every
one else. Here is the webpage where you can add your suggestions.

Hi all,
Some of you would have already heard about the recent partnership
between Malayalam Wikipedians & German University of Tubingen to digitize
the works of Herman Gundert.
Dr. Hermann Gundert was a German missionary, scholar, and linguist, as well
as the grandfather of German novelist and Nobel laureate Hermann Hesse.
Gundert compiled a Malayalam grammar book, Malayalabhaasha Vyakaranam
(1859), the Malayalam-English dictionary (1872), and contributed to work on
Bible translations into Malayalam. He worked primarily at Tellicherry on
the Malabar coast, in Kerala, India. Gundert also contributed to the fields
of history, geography and astronomy.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hermann_Gundert
The corpus of nearly 80 manuscripts, 150 printed works and some palm leaf
manuscripts of the German scholar available with the university runs into
some 42,000 pages.
A detailed history of this effort can be read here
http://shijualex.in/tubingen-university-gundert-collection/ ( Blog by Shiju
Alex in Malayalam)

The project named “Gundert legacy – a digitization project of the
University of Tuebingen” will be started soon.

I see that core editing related matters are included only in point 5 and 6.
I was recently examining some statistics related to BSNL dynamic IP
addresses since I quite frequently see a new message for me when I log in
in the morning on the en.wiki and the message turns out to be in almost all
cases warnings against poor editing, vandalism and so on. On some IP
ranges, about 1-6% of all IP talk pages have warnings and an analysis shows
that the most common problem is poor sourcing, self-promotion and other
forms of advertising.
In my (limited) experience working with advanced students (MS + levels) on
Wikipedia editing, I have found it very useful to cover Information
Literacy and research techniques. Information Literacy skills are taught in
very few higher learning centres in India (I may be wrong though since such
courses were available to me both at undergrad and postgrad levels) I would
suggest that it is vital that people know about what research is and how
sources are evaluated. I also think there needs to be coverage of technical
writing (which includes reviewing literature, structuring, brevity,
balance, avoiding closed paraphrasing and plagiarism, inline citation with
templates, citation styles - Harvard, MLA, APA, use of bibliographic tools
like Zotero )
best wishes
Shyamal
PS: will check if i can find the slides that i use, only able to find my
