agreements and institutional policies asserted by museums and even
libraries that hold the original art collections. Re-evaluation and
critical examination of policies that will enable museums to better
contribute to and use Wikipedia or Wikimedia Commons, and for the
Wikimedia community to benefit from the expertise in museums. This
session will provide a close look at rules, guidelines and examples
that can be clarified to order to promote active engagement between
the keepers of the collections and the scholars, publishers, and other
members of the public who seek to benefit from them.

Very good that someone is taking time for real article work of good
quality. As for me, the lovely weather this month has put me on the
bike, looking for more places the good photographers haven't seen yet.
Yesterday was Ft Lee, North Bergen, Secaucus, and Jersey City as far
south as Journal Square for pix near sunset of the structure holding up
the square, which isn't really a town square but an enormously wide
reinforced concrete bridge. And I got sunburnt and sore and happy. Did
you know the northwest side of Journal Square is a Little India
neighborhood? I never suspected such a thng. Now, it's time for a few
days at the computer, not so much to add to articles, as to select,
process and upload my pictures, leaving the unbicycled to do most the
picture categorizing, article editing, and other work that doesn't make
sunburn.

I have spent the last couple of weeks working on articles related to historic buildings on the Upper East Side, related to (though not always using the photos from, nor always on the goals list from) Wikis Take Manhattan 2 (yes, even though that was a year and a half ago (although I did touch up and improve my own pictures from the Headcases team).
[[Lenox Hill Hospital]]: improved pic, and found logo online (free image since it's only text).
[[East 80th Street Houses]]: not on list, but used my photo and others by Jim Henderson and Americasroof to improve and nominate for DYK
[[Park Avenue Christian Church]]: improved photo
[[1000 Park Avenue]]: not on goals list; new article nominated for DYK
[[St. Vincent Ferrer Church (New York)]]: improved and expanded with infobox (the first Catholic church article I've really worked on, believe it or not).
[[East 73rd Street Historic District]]: new one in area (not on goals list) up for DYK.
[[Union Club of New York]]: improved picture
[[Church of the Resurrection]]: improved picture and added infobxo to article
[[St. Jean Baptiste Catholic Church]]: improved and greatly expanded (I really like how this one turned out).
I also moved a couple of Americasroof images (740 Park Avenue, the priory at St. Vincent Ferrer and one other of St. Jean Baptiste) to Commons as well.
So, these actvities can yield long-term benefit to the project besides just the pictures.

Hi folks,
Please sign our petition to bring the international Wikimania 2011
conference to NYC:
http://wikimanianyc.org/
Having this event in NYC will allow it to take advantage of our city's
strong open source and open knowlege copmmunities in the technology
and cultural sectors, to strengthen these communities, and to result
in a truly high-profile Wikimania before the eyes of the world.
With efforts like the planned Wiki World's Fair that can engage the
city as a whole, this occasion represents an unequalled opportunity of
broad public outreach for the wiki and free culture movements on both
a local and an international basis in this very global city.
Clearly, there is no better place to celebrate Wikipedia's 10th year
than will be found at the crunchy core of the Big Apple.
