Hi all,
I just wanted to announce that this Thursday the 16th at 18:00 UTC, there
will be an IRC office hours concerning the article feedback tool which is
currently in experimental partial deployment on English Wikipedia.[1]
I'll be moderating mainly for Erik Möller, but hopefully we'll be joined by
most of the Foundation staff who've contributed to this feature.
Just to clarify, we want to stick to two general topics:
1. The strategic goals the feature aims to address. In other words, its
purpose.
2. Plans for developing and deploying it further.
If you have bugs to report or specific design feedback, as always Bugzilla
and MediaWiki.org are respectively the best places to discuss those two
things. For the office hours we'd like to stick to a broader explanation of
the feature and its future.
As always documentation for IRC office hours is on Meta.[3]
Thanks,

As I recall, there didn't seem to be very many - I checked twenty or
thirty more plausible candidates (same time period, etc) and drew a
blank before finding Dobson. There was one other possible case
mentioned on the talkpage, but there both the NPG and WP seem to have
derived it from an old copy of the Dictionary of Australian Biography.

Have the others been checked over?

Follow up on this thread from last week:
NPG have pushed through changes to their content and it is now on their live
site.
Please advise if there are any further issues.

Hallo,
I just received an email (see below) that invites me to participate in
the elections.
There are several technical issues with it:
1. I already voted. It may be a good idea to send this only to people
who didn't.
2. The subject says "2009".
3. The email is sent in English and Hebrew. I don't know how did the
system find out that that is my preferred language, so it's a bit
weird, but in general i'm happy about this localization. There is
still a problem, however: since the text is bidirectional and this
email is sent in plain text, the Hebrew text is garbled and hardly
readable. One way to solve this is to send the email as HTML and to
define the Hebrew part as dir="rtl". This is relevant for all RTL
languages - Arabic, Farsi, Urdu, Pashto, Divehi and many others.
Thank you,

A press release is only one step before actually filing court papers.
A friendly chat (which Liam is doing now) comes first and then comes a
firmly worded letter from a solicitor. We shouldn't even be
considering press releases at this stage, they would do more harm than
good.
Personally, I would rather see this as an opportunity for friendly dialogue
to help improve our working relationship. It might be a case study to
usefully cover at GLAMcamp London (24 June) where someone from the NPG is
attending (though not necessarily with this responsibility) and could be
declared afterwards as a positive outcome. Perhaps someone would care to
email the WM-UK board with a short summary and this can be resolved
off-list?
Cheers,
Fae
