I think there's *some* threshold below which it's too trivial. But
something avidly followed by 50-100 million people is definitely above
the threshold. Heck, there's probably more people who followed the
Elizabeth Smart case than there are people who follow some of the more
obscure Australian football sides, yet we don't insist *those* are just
media-manufactured nonsense we don't need to write about.
