Part of the problem with your solution (though I like
to see such an understanding of wikidynamics) is that
its been so dependent on plain old good writing
ability that it comes out somewhat inconsistently,
athough it isnt as bad as it might have been. Some of
us (no poll taken) are of a mind that we are rehashing
the same old POV battles (usually spawned by an
average quality edit with a poor choice of structure
or wording - which is why reverts are bad form - they
provoke when the issue usually isnt much to argue
about).
Some of us seem to want to get on the same page about
more specific parts of NPOV, and not be labeled a
"cabal" thats enforcing a POV. NPOV in case x means:
this can be generalised and formalized better by a
committee, rather than by talented and talentless
editors arguing over nothing on an article about an
idea of something that never was.
It seems reasonably easy to figure out; neutrality
throughout; from the way things are put down to the
terms used. Having to repeatedly explain the grand
NPOV concept and how it scales down to the choice of
words is a bit tiring. Take my little war over the
'Category:FHM 100 sexiest women' - its just so basic
to those of us who have the remotest clue about NPOV
that its.... silly. That we now have categories that
are built up about fictional worlds, is kind of
testimony to this sort of problem, if rate of
development outpaces familiarization with NPOV. I had
to convert the whole Category:Rebellion to
Category:Rebel Alliance - someone apparently thought
'rebellions' were limited to the Lucasfilm variety. :\
Anyway, you see where that's going. I think we can
sort be more specific about what NPOV means by the
example of what terms to use and not (as a general
discussion) and this will serve to educate our newbies
better about NPOV. I think here I speak for the
frustrated; maybe even the bemusedly pissed and the
self-recusatory too.
