It only really applies to UK editors and since in the UK sending a
libelus claim on a postcard is enough to trigger a case it is hardly
an unexpected extension of the law.
Not quite true. There's a number of libel cases which, along with this
one, now establish that postings to wikipedia, and I'd say anywhere on
wikipedia, not just the talk page, by anyone, regardless of country of
origin, are now fair game for a libel suit in the courts of England and
Wales.
