Perhaps because those same European nations don't think they should
directly influence the democratic elections of other countries? Naive I
know, but my point here is that would YOU be happy with another country
interfering in your elections?! I wouldn't. I wasn't when George Bush
decided to comment on Mark Latham before the Australian elections, and
at that point I was going to have voted against Latham.
Diplomtically it would be a bad idea to favour one party over the other.
Countries should respect the people's votes for democratically elected
governments!!!
Now I've said all that - in what way did you want European nations to
support an opposition leader?
