Actually that's a pretty good question. I suppose the answer is that
we probably couldn't all agree on involving another Wikipedian, such
as you, whereas quite a lot of people, if not the majority, are likely
to be able to live with the idea of Jimbo's involvement. It's his
toybox, he did a pretty good job of handling disputes in the early
days, and he still performs some arbitration and appeal functions.
