Why is there a need to delete them? Properties went
through a proposal
cycle and I would be very cautious with deleting those properties since
Wikidata properties can be used outside the Wikidata ecosystem. Especially
since Wikidata is now part of the LOD.

I would say if the property has been unused for
some time, nominate it
for deletion and see whether there is consensus the property is not needed.
I do not think there are any particular criteria.

Thanks Yaroslav, but ... you didn't answer my
question ? :-) What is
the criteria typically used or kinda agreed upon for "unused properties" ?

Hi Thad,
properties can be proposed for deletion and, actually, get deleted.
However, when a property is approved there is usually a reasonable
discussion showing the potential of its application. If it can be applied
to multiple items it does not get approved.
