Core may be the future, but its a nightmare. I yet to get more than 5
minutes of usage before I run into a bug that causes a fatal error. When
Trying to help new users I dont want to deal with the instability and
problems core still has. Ricordisamoa, Im not going to change your option
on this nor do I wish to debate it, since you are a relatively new
developer to pywiki, but Ive been using it for 10 years and I know what
works, and doesnt. Core isnt ready yet, but has a lot of promise when it is
finally ready.

OK, First delete core. You dont need both.
Delete compat instead! Core is the future.
Then run:
generate_family_file.py
http://localhost/mediawiki local
Follow that up with generate_user_files.py and then select local
If you have further needs please email me off list and I can walk you
thru what you need.

Hi,
I've downloaded PyWikibot using the commands:
git clone --recursive
https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/pywikibot/core.git
git clone --recursive
https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/pywikibot/compat.git
I'm running a local Wiki (at
http://localhost:127.0.0.1/mediawiki to be
precise) on 64-bit Windows 7 and I haven't the foggiest of how to set up
this program for it. I know I need to set up user_config.py for core and
compat but as this Wiki isn't on the accepted Wiki families I am stuck.
I am a programming noob so if you could boil it down into simple things
for me to do that'd be very helpful.
Thanks for your time,
Brenton
