Hi all,
Wiki is working fine following change in Localsettings.php
#$wgArticlePath = "$wgScript/$1";
$wgArticlePath = "$wgScript?title=$1";
So I am able to access my wiki again, but with $wgArticlePath =
"$wgScript/$1"; wiki is not showing up.
as suggested in irc I disscussed with my provider they see no problem.
I am still trying some rewrite rules .. but I don't know where the probelm
is since my provider was rebuilding apache, so is the problem at wiki ? or
in apache configuration , what should I ask my provider for in that case?

A few published autologin solutions, as well as
SpecialUserLogin::processlogin uses the $wgUser= $u followed by
$wgUser->SetCookies method similar to the below snippet to login an
existing user.
When running this as a hook function, the Cookies won't set (won't
login). Debug log shows $tmpuser->getID()=13 and
$tmpuser->getName()='John Smith' just prior to the $wgUser=$tmpuser
statement.
Cookies are enabled,
What else is needed?
Thanks for any input,
Brian

function AutoL(&$user)
{
global $sso_UN,$wgUser, $wgCommandLineMode;
if ( !$wgCommandLineMode && !isset( $_COOKIE[session_name()] ) ) {
User::SetupSession();
}
//Cancel if session is current
$tmpuser = User::LoadFromSession();
if($tmpuser->isLoggedIn())
return;
//Is the user already in the database?
$tmpuser = User::newFromName($sso_UN);
//If exists, log them in
if($tmpuser->getID() != 0)
{
$tmpuser->loadFromDatabase();
$wgUser = $tmpuser;
$wgUser->setCookies();
$wgUser->saveSettings();
return;
}
}
Any brainstorms why the following would produce null output when
placed near the 'bottom' in Localsettings.php?
$sso_ID = $_SERVER['HTTP_SSO_ID'];
error_log( SSO ID=".$_SERVER['HTTP_SSO_ID']."\n",3, 'c:\wiki\errorlog.txt' );
error_log( SSO ID=".$sso_ID."\n",3, 'c:\wiki\errorlog.txt' );
HTTP_SSO_ID is can be output by visiting page test.php, which contains:
<?php
$sso_ID = $_SERVER['HTTP_SSO_ID'];
print "The SSO ID is $sso_ID<br />";
?>
Thanks,
Brian
A better solution would be to work out how to disable a user.
That way at least you have a historic track of the user, even
if they no longer have the ability to log in.

It leaves edits with no editing user. Among other things; why do you
need to remove it, 'swoop'?

Can someone point me to the documentation which shows how to delete user accounts?
I am running mediawiki 1.5.7, and am logged in with sysop and bureaucrat permissions.

Talk is cheap. Use Yahoo! Messenger to make PC-to-Phone calls. Great rates starting at 1¢/min.
Thanks for that! Good idea, but it doesn't seem to have done the
trick. It results in variations on the error message:
"The upload directory ([whatever dir spec I put in LocalSettings.php])
is not writable by the webserver."
I tried changing both path and dir, in various combinations. :(
Everything else in the installation seems to be working beautifully
(and I have a couple of CMSs purring away, too). It's just the upload
option in MW that seems to be sticky.....
Any other suggestions gratefully received!
David.

I am running mediawiki as a localhost setup for development/learning.
The environment is XAMPP (so, Apache, MySQL, PhP, etc.) in WinXP.
Everything is going well ... except for "uploads".
I have read this, and everything else I can find on enabling uploads.
For some reason I keep getting this error message:
"The upload directory ($/images) is not writable by the webserver."
I have checked the apache aliases (none), I have set the flag in the
mediawiki configuration, checked the directory names/path, checked the
directory properties in Windoze, etc. I still cannot get past that
error message. I tried simply copying a .PNG to the /images directory,
but of course that can't be found by mediawiki.
I have read the information at
http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Running_MediaWiki_on_Windows and it is
(more than?) likely that something needs set in my Apache's httpd.conf
file, but I can't work out the options (have looked here:
http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.2/mod/core.html#options)
Can anyone help me to get past this one?! Thanks! David.

Hello all,
I recently discovered another wiki with the exact same name as mine. To
avoid confusion (and potential trademark issues), I would like to change the
name of my wiki. Is it possible to do this without re-installing everything?
I have read the FAQ, but couldn't find any information on this. I'd
appreciate any help.
thanks,
Anna
If running on linux/unix and have sendmail, postfix or some other MTA installed, point it to your external smtp as a relay point.
Need more info about host os and software installed to help further.

Subject: [Mediawiki-l] Email setup
Hi,
I'm trying to setup Wiki 1.6.X to use email notification.
In my LocalSettings file:
$wgEnableEmail = true;
$wgEnableUserEmail = true;
$wgEmergencyContact = "wiki(a)castortech.com";
$wgPasswordSender = "wiki(a)castortech.com";
$wgSMTP is giving me problems.
I checked: http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:%24wgSMTP but I'm not sure
how to set it up.
Do I need that PEAR thing?
I use an external SMTP server with my backup app and I only had to tell
it the name and port of the server.
Do I only need host and port or everything? And Must I keep the "" where
they are?
$wgSMTP = array(
'host' => "localhost",
'IDHost' => "domain for MessageID",
'port' => 25,
'auth' => false,
'username' => "my_user_name",
'password' => "my_password"
);
Thanks!
Simon
