Hi,
As I haven't using apache 1.3 for ages but wanted to use MediaWiki
personally with its URL scheme anyway, I adapted the 1.3 patch to
work with apache 2.0.52 and apache 2.1.1 (SVN HEAD).
apache 2.0.52 patch:
http://dev.gentoo.org/~trapni/dist/06_all_mod_rewrite_ampescape.patch
apache 2.1.1 (HEAD) patch:
http://dev.gentoo.org/~trapni/dist/mod_rewrite_ampescape_against_head.patch
Feel free to add them to the maintaince repository.
I'm also in a discussion at the httpd developer list to get a
general solution to be implemented in apache 2.1+ development
line. But we've no code yet for this.
Regards,
Christian Parpart.

Hello there,
When trying to install MediaWiki 1.3.8, it always tries to connect as
root to my MySQL database:
* PHP 4.3.9: ok
* PHP server API is cgi; using ugly URLs (index.php?title=Page_Title)
* Have XML / Latin1-UTF-8 conversion support.
* PHP's memory_limit is 8M. If this is too low, installation may fail!
Attempting to raise limit to 20M... ok.
* Have zlib support; enabling output compression.
* Found GD graphics library built-in, image thumbnailing will be
enabled if
you enable uploads.
* Installation directory: /usr/local/apache2/htdocs/wiki
* Script URI path: /wiki
* MySQL error 1045: Keine Zugriffsberechtigung fr Benutzer:
'root@localhost'. (Verwendetes Passwort: Nein)
* Trying regular user... need password.
Something's not quite right yet; make sure everything below is filled
out correctly.
When entering the correct root password (although the database already
exists), I receive "MySQL error 0". I can connect with both the wiki and
the root user to MySQL using the normal MySQL client without any problems.
Cf. bug 921.
Thanks
Florian
I have rewrite working. It's great. Except....
The link at the top of the page isn't giving the "Special:Userlogin" link
that works...but rather appending it as a query string like so:
"Main_Page?title=Special:Userlogin&returnto=Main_Page"....and this link does
nothing. Reloads Main_Page...that's it.
.htaccess:
php_flag register_globals off
RewriteEngine on
RewriteRule ^$ /index.php [L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/(stylesheets|images|skins)/
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/(redirect|texvc|index).php
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/error/(40(1|3|4)|500).html
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/favicon.ico
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/robots.txt
RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} ^$ [OR] RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI}
^/wiki/Special:Search
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /index.php/$1 [L,QSA]
LocalSettings.php:
$wgSitename = "Sitename";
$wgServer = "http://www.foo.org";
$wgScriptPath = "";
$wgScript = "$wgScriptPath";
$wgRedirectScript = "$wgScriptPath/redirect.php";
$wgArticlePath = "$wgScript/$1";
$wgStylePath = "$wgScriptPath/stylesheets";
$wgStyleDirectory = "$IP/stylesheets";
$wgLogo = "$wgStylePath/images/wiki.png";
$wgUploadPath = "/images";
$wgUploadDirectory = "$IP/images";
Any help?
Josh
Hi,
I just asked this on IRC, but I got no real solution yet:
I want to disable the display of the EditSection links on mediawiki
pages which are shown to normal (= not authenticated) readers. The
sectional links should only be visible if a user is signed in.
I can not find such a variable setting in DefaultSettings.php (something
like "wgEditSection = false"), from where it could be put into the
LocalSettings.php. The recommendation from IRC was to hack the
Parser.php code, but: Then I would disable it for any and all users,
which goes far beyond my intension.
Any idea?
Thanks, Thommie

Is there any good reason not to make the left hand menus a wiki page
that can be edited with the contents shown where that left hand menu
currently is located on every page? That'd make the menus themselves
subject to being edited as the community saw fit which would seem
user-friendly to me.
