Hi,
I have a couple of questions regarding the Wiki Page ID. Does it always
stay unique for the page, where the page itself is just a placeholder for
any kind of information that might change over time?
Consider the following cases:
1. The first time someone creates page "Moon" it is assigned ID=1. If at
some point the page is renamed to "The_Moon", the ID=1 remains intact. Is
this correct?
2. What if we have page "Moon" with ID=1. Someone creates a second-page
"The_Moon" with ID=2. Is it possible that page "Moon" is transformed into a
redirect? Then, "Moon" would be redirecting to page "The_Moon"?
3. Is it possible for page "Moon" to become a category "Category:Moon" with
the same ID=1?

Hey folks,
we plan to drop the wb_entity_per_page table sometime soon[0], because
it is just not required (as we will likely always have a programmatic
mapping from entity id to page title) and it does not supported non
-numeric entity ids as it is now. Due to this removing it is a blocker
for the commons metadata.
Is anybody using that for their tools (on tool labs)? If so, please
tell us so that we can give you instructions and a longer grace period
to update your scripts.

Hi everyone!
I am trying to configure Wikibase in a wiki that I have installed. I
want to use both, repository and client. I have followed installation
instructions <https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Wikibase/Installation>, but
I think that I made something wrong because now I have several errors in
my wiki.
If I access to any page of the site I see "Internal error", the error
and the backtrace. For example, in the mainpage:

Hi!
I am developing functionality that will allow WDQS query to get data
from Mediawiki API [1].
Currently, the design is as follows:
- The API should have a pre-defined template
- The template also specifies which results are available from the API
The need for template is currently because we need to convert data from
API's treelike format to tabular format that SPARQL needs, and the
template allows to specify how the conversion is done.

The prototype implementation is running on http://wdqs-test.wmflabs.org/
(only Categories API described in the page above is configured now, but
more will be soon). I'd like to hear feedback about this:
- does template model make sense at all? Is it enough?
- what APIs would we want to expose?
- any other features that would be useful?
Other comments and ideas on the matter are of course always welcome.

Hi,
There is a property proposal to store a SPARQL query equivalent to a
category:

I have some doubts about the appropriate datatype. I guess it depends on
future plans/community preferences.
My ideal scenario would be a datatype "SPARQL query" that would store the
plain text and it would be collapsed in the user interface. Users would be
able to expand the code or just run it directly. Additionally, queries
could be qualified with qualifiers TBD, that would allow to query existing
queries, or define how frequently the cached query should be updated.
If that would be too much work, then the datatype "string" or a short/long
URL to the query seem also valid options.
What are your thoughts on the issue?

Hi Wikidata community,
on May 29 in Delft, The Netherlands, the first national meeting is
planned for researchers (at a various stage of their career) about the
Dutch National Plan Open Science. There will be a large session where
organisations and individuals can present their experiences with Open
Science...
I will join the meeting and want to see Wikidata there, and plan to
host a table about Wikidata in research... every since the joined
H2020 funding application (which we didn't get), I have been using
Wikidata for our interoperabilty work in various research projects...
However, the more the merrier, and I'm hoping to co-host a Wikidata
table at this meeting... who else is interested in teaming up and
showing the Dutch research community how Wikidata can help them with
their Open Science? My own work is in the area of the life sciences,
but I know many others are using Wikidata for other research fields,
and the meeting is for all research, not just the natural sciences...

This script is based on a new API module for constraint checks

that one can use to check constraints on items and statements. At the
moment, the constraint checks are only derived from the property discussion
page constraint templates, not directly from statements. They are then
stored in a database table. We are running a script to update this table
every now and then or when you ask for it. Also note that some constraint
checks are disabled (for example the format check). In the future we will
support adding and updating constraints on property statements and we will
implement support for some constraints that are currently still missing.
If you try it, feel free to give us feedback! You can also add comments or
subtasks on Phabricator (see the ticket for the API module
<https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T102757> and the user script
<https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T97018>).
If there is no major disagreement, we would like to turn this script into a
gadget in the next days.

One common form of vandalism in Wikidata is removing sitelinks (we already
have an abuse filter flagging them).
One of my friends in Persian Wikipedia (who is not a wikidata editor and
only cares about Persian Wikipedia) asked me to write a tool that lists all
Persian Wikipedia sitelink removals. So I wrote something small and fast
but it's usable for any wiki. For example English Wikipedia:

It's slow due to nature of the database query but once it responds, you
might find good things to revert.
Since this is the most useful for Wikipedia editors who don't want to

the most useful) I'm reaching to wider audiences. Sorry for spamming.

The University of Edinburgh is a charitable body, registered in

The first cycle of the Wikimedia movement strategy process[1] recently
concluded. During that period, we were discussing the main directions for
the Wikimedia movement over the next 15 years. There are more than
*1500* summary
statements collected from the various communities, but only *3* from the
Wikidata discussion[2]. The strategy facilitators and many volunteers
have summarized[3] the discussions of the previous month. A quantitative
analysis of the statements will be posted on Meta for translation this
week, alongside the report from the Berlin conference[4].
The second cycle will begin soon. It's set to begin on May 5 and run until
May 31. During that period, you will be invited to dive into the main
topics that emerged in the first cycle, discuss what they mean, which ones
are the most important and why, and what their practical implications are.
This work will be informed and complemented by research involving new
voices that haven’t traditionally been included in strategy discussions,
like readers, partners, and experts. Together, we will begin to make sense
of all this information and organize it into a meaningful guiding document,
which we will all collectively refine during the third and last cycle in
June−July.
We want to help your community to be more engaged with the discussions in
the next cycle. Now, we are looking for volunteers who could
- tell us *where to announce* the start of the Cycle 2, and *how to do
that*, so we could be sure the majority of your community is informed
and has a chance to feel committed, and
- facilitate the Cycle 2 discussions on Wikidata.
