Obviously we missed the part where they decided to use the waterfall method of development, but not to worry - I'm sure the decision on what brand of coffee will be drunk is IMMINENT, and we all know that is a VITAL step.

On a more serious note, let's all just chill out for a second and remember that everyone is bound to have a different opinion regarding interacting with the software; editing is, after all, the main functionality within MediaWiki, and as a consequence, the editing interface is one of the most critical. Which means that any changes being made to it, or to supplement it or <insert chosen verb arrangement here> need careful thought, and discussion...
...sure. But then, if it doesn't *hurt* in the short term, and someone has the balls to hack a few test implementations and ideas together, good for them.
