Are we talking about the English Wikipedia here, or a
mirror of it you've
set up, or some other random wiki?
Its a site on my intranet
Either way, the answer is "Yes, of course
it's possible" - although a page
(like the en.wikipedia Front_page) can be
"protected" so that only those users
with sysop/admin rights can edit it; this is an imperfect solution to the
problem of high-visibility or highly-contentious pages being particularly
prone to vandalism.
* If you're talking about your own wiki, do what
you like with it - just
make sure you're logged into a sysop/admin account if
the page is protected.
ok - found out how to get into sysop - now hoe am i supposed to save the
edited page? i keep on getting the following - everytime i submit;
"Someone else has changed this page since you started editing it. The upper
text area contains the page text as it currently exists. Your changes are
shown in the lower text area. You will have to merge your changes into the
existing text. Only the text in the upper text area will be saved when you
press "Save page". "
It replaces the old text in the edit box - and what i type in the 'your text'
box at the bottom - yet it will not save.... what do i need to do to save it
(NB. I found out how to unprotect the page).
