Hi there,
I am trying to load the old table into a remote server but due to the large
amount of data I do get a close after a while. I am also wondering how long this
takes and if I am doing properly. Loading 15GB of data with mysql might take
several days?!
Here is how I am doing it:
- login via ssh to the remote server
- login to the mysql 4.x database
- issue: mysql> LOAD DATA INFILE '/home/wiki/20050516_old_table.sql' INTO
TABLE
wiki.old;
Any suggestions? Thank you for your help,
AFAIK the sql dumps aren't text data, but actual sql commands. So you'll
just cat the unzipped file to mysql:
cat old.sql | mysql -u username -p
using appropriate username and password options.
There have been reports about people taking one day to load the 1 GB "cur"
table, so 15 GB may be really slow. But results seem to vary wildly, for
me loading the "cur" dump only took one hour or two on an average machine,
and using Windows too, where mysql is not optimized.
