On my 3GHz athlon XP box, importing that cur table

Similarly, the same SQL query to count the rows in the cur table takes
0.1 seconds on linux and 6 minutes on windows.
Surely MySQL on windows can't be *this* bad? Both MySQLs are running
as default 4.x installations on otherwise unladen machines with ample
RAM. Does this match others' experiences?
Not at all.
I just clocked the import of a 924 MB German cur table from March 22 on
my AMD64 3500+ 2GB workstation running Windows XP with MySQL 4.1.11, and
it took 5 minutes and 36 seconds.
But don't ask me what to configure in which way. I use a standard
ApacheFriends XAMPP installation and don't know if that differs from the
standard MySQL installation.
