Just a question: have you ever discussed (and where) the possibility to 
add Page: (and maybe Index: and Author:) to the defined 
ContentNamespaces 
(http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:$wgContentNamespaces , 
$wgContentNamespaces = array (0, 102, 108, 110)) to get those pages 
considered by [[Special:Statistics]], {{NUMBEROFARTICLES}} and 
[[Special:Random]]
