ave the pipe character for cases where the link name & display name are 
completely different.
how about reversing: }{
so it's always anything that's on the "belly" side of a  { or } thats hidden

= put on the [[One Ring|Ring]]
Shown as: put on the _Ring_

+ called [[George }W{. Bush]]
= called [[George W. Bush|W]] during the campaign
Shows as: called _W_ during the campaign
