[Wikimediaindia-l] New digest mail mails to India list

The primary reason is that there is a huge newbie attraction and India
mailing list sign up due to Wikimedia conference banner. When somebody signs
up, they are given an option to have digest mails instead of regular mail on
new message type.

It is generally recommended to change the subject line and
remove unnecessary portions of the original mail while replying to the
digest mails.

While replying to a digest mail, it even does informs the sender like

"When replying, please edit your Subject line so it is more specific
than "Re: Contents of Wikimediaindia-l digest..." "

The new comers ( mostly college/school going students) are not used to or
aware of such mailing list rules.
Should we automatically send a introductory mail on list rules and
guidelines when somebody signs up ?
