Thanks for your questions. We're hoping you can attend the birthday
celebrations in Delhi this weekend!  I'll actually be in Delhi next
week. It would be good if you have time to meet up for an informal

Answers to your questions:

So, I would like to know what is the status of your India office?

The most important thing we're working on right now is hiring a
Country Director.  Our office will consist of a small team of 3-5
people, so it will be a modest operation. We still plan to open the
office in the next few months.

In addition to the small office the Foundation plans to open, there is
a vibrant community of volunteers, as well as an established Chapter
in Bangalore. The volunteers have organized more than 60 events to
celebrate Wikipedia's 10th anniversary in India.  You can find more

When are you going to inauguration(if its not already done) the office
and where in India?
We still have not decided on a location.

I would also like to contact the head of your India office.
As I said, we still have not hired a Country Director--the person who
will manage our small team--but Barry Newstead, our Chief Development
Officer, will be in Delhi with me next week.

I will highly appreciate if you could answe me as soon as possible.

I am Navodita Pandey, a journalist working with a French TV called
France 24 from New Delhi, India. I read in the newspapers that
Wikimedia is going to open its first non-US office in India. I read it
few months ago. So, i would like to know what is the status of your
India office? When are you going to inauguration(if its not already
done) the office and where in India?
